chats with the babe

There are 18 days until this little kiddo in my belly is due to be born.

We were having a little chat the other day. (Yes we chat sometimes) I don't think she is going to make any kind of early appearance. I think she will take after her mothers side of the family and be late. She might come on her due date but definitely not early.

I think I'm ok with this. For all I know I could be wrong and she might be coming tonight but I think I am happy for her now and I'm happy to wait. It has been such a lovely experience feeling her grow inside of me. If it weren't for the fact that I get to cuddle and play with her when she comes out I daresay I would be quite sad to have her go.

But it feels like she is quite happy just floating around in there. I haven't had any Braxton Hicks contractions, she's not engaged yet, there have been no other labour signs. I've actually been feeling less huge and pregnant for the last few days (despite having a cold). She is just kicking around and having a grand ole time inside.

What a sweet little dear.

i think i feel a flu coming on...

You know that tingly feeling in your throat?
The feeling of slightly blocked sinuses?
That very dull ache in your head?
That drowsy feeling that makes you doze a little when you aren't supposed to?

I've got that right now. It feels like the very beginnings of a flu.

I'm actually pretty lucky. Till the little one comes I have very little to do except make sure the house is all ready for her arrival.
SO this morning I had a nice sleep in, ate some porridge for breakfast and got some vitamin c into my system.

I hope this hint of the flu doesn't turn into the full blown thing. I don't much fancy being fluey in labour.

My hands and feet are still ridiculously itchy. I've tried cool baths, oatmeal baths, Alpha Keri ointment, rest and elevation, walking in only rubber thongs, walking in bare feet and I've been trying not to scratch them. Really I have.

Nothing really seems to work very well.

Boo hoo.

One thing that makes me smile though is this little baby girl doing what looks like palates in the womb. All of a sudden one section of my belly will be pushed right up into the sky like there is a whole knee being pressed into one spot. It will stay there for a bit then come back down. It's pretty amazing and if I didn't know there was a baby in there I would probably be worried about some kind of "Alien" reenactment.

Performance Anxiety

I'm just going to clarify straight up that this is not my belly. Sometimes I use pictures from the internet that are not my own because they are pretty/relevant/interesting/cute. This sometimes makes people a little confused.

Anyway. The little one (bless his non existent cotton socks) has performance anxiety.

He is getting to be quite an active little kicker which pleases me to no end. I could sit for hours giggling at his little soft nudges and squirms about my belly. I actually do giggle sometimes making Myles very confused as to what is funny. I can see the little kicks on my belly making it move. It is one of the most amazing feelings in the world. I feel so so blessed to be able to experience it. Such an amazing God given gift I want never to take for granted.

So naturally when I feel this wonderful feeling I want to share it with those around me.

"Come feel my belly" I say.
"The baby is kicking" I say.

People come running from all over to feel this wondrous thing.

and then...

it stops.

Poor little nervous bobkin. Too much attention. Too much pressure to perform.

I guess it will just have to be Myles and my special little secret.

eeek... the cuteness!

I spotted the yellow onesie over at Bleubird vintage blog. Its from a site called gilt. Gilt sells lots of different clothes including ones for little ones that are very cute and a bit cheaper than the shops. (Although they are still pretty spennos for such tiny clothes.)

I am a bit of a fan of the colour yellow.

In other news

Bobbin has been wriggling away so happily inside of me lately. I feel movements so often. It is really lovely. Last night they were all in one particular spot so I grabbed Myles hand and put it on my tum. Bob gave an almighty kick (in a very gentle way) and Myles could feel it. Myl was then treated to a lovely little underbelly dance for the next few minutes. I think he was pretty chuffed.

It's his birthday tomorrow. I guess the little one was just wishing him a good one.
