Dear little one...

you are starting to get heavy
I'm feeling like and old woman
lugging you about in mah belly.
Your little kicks are getting
stronger every day. I can feel
your tiny feet in my belly and
they squirm away when I touch
them. I'm starting to look forward
to you coming out and feel like
having you inside will get
a bit trickier from now on.
But you are so worth it.
When you come out we will dance
and run and play games ok?

love mama

twenty-nine

How far along? 29 weeks. Almost 30 which is almost 40 yikes!
Baby’s Size: 40cm and 1.35kg
Maternity Clothes: loving stretchy tops, babydoll tops and flowwy dresses.
Belly Button: still not an outie.
Gender: girl
Movement: So so much. Particularly at night. Sometimes it feels like she is having a disco in there jittering about. Sometimes she likes to lean on me. She likes leaning and playing on my right side.
Sleep: It's getting tricky. I have to cuddle a pillow or a Myl to stay upright and my left leg went numb last night from sleeping on it. It's pretty hot at night and I keep waking up at noises out in the street.
Symptoms: Oh boy yes! Heartburn is still lingering. The little one's head has been down for a while and this is causing a few problems with pressure. I'm feeling more irritable, tired and emotional. Starting to get anxious about labour which is not fun. Feeling like an old lady unable to bend over and having to sit down all the time. 2nd party trimester is definitely over.
Best Moments this week: Lots of lovely moving. I can feel where her hands and feet go.
Food Aversions: Feeling hungry often but full after only a little food.
Food Cravings: Fruit!
What I miss: Feeling young and bendy and sleeping on my tum and feeling awake. Baaaah!! I love you baby.
What I am Looking forward to: Starting baby classes this week. Hopefully they will say some things to make me less anxious.
Milestones: We are now in the year that the little one will be making her grand appearance. Hello 2011.
Awesome fact about little one: Baby's got BAT. (brown adipose tissue)It's special baby fat that helps the little one keep warm.

checkup.

I just got back from my 29 week checkup. The first of the fortnightly visits.

I feel awful.
I was feeling all sprightly and well this morning as we left. When we got there I got to see the midwife pretty much straight away. She was really friendly and lovely.

I was supposed to have my glucose test (for gestational diabetes) before Christmas but it just didn't happen so I had it done today. They got me to drink the sweetest drink I have ever tasted. It was thick and syrupy like cordial without the water in it. It had a slight fizz. After drinking that I was feeling even more sprightly.

The midwife took my blood pressure - 120/65 (perfect she said)

She felt around for the little one but couldn't figure out where she was. I think she was sleeping at the time. In the mornings I don't really feel her. She is moving right now and I can tell exactly where she is.
She found the heartbeat and said it was good.

Then I had to wait an hour to get my blood tested. I sat in the waiting room and read a book about babies. I began to feel a bit drowsy. It felt like I was coming down from that sugar high. Myl went to move the car and when he was gone the time came for the blood test.

I felt pretty good about the needle. I could tell this midwife would be really good at blood tests. But I was still feeling a bit drowsy. As soon as the needle went in (which I barely felt) i started to feel dizzy. I told the midwife and she told me to drop my head and keep my arm still.

She finished up the test and gave me some iced water. I felt so dizzy. The water helped. Myl came in just at that moment and gave my head a pat. I like that.

She told me to lie down next time.

After finishing my water I went out to the car where Myl was waiting. I began to feel a bit queasy. When I got to the car I felt like I needed to vomit. You know that horrible feeling in your throat. I wound down the window and contemplated running into emergency for a vomit bag. Feeling woozy we drove on. I was holding an empty packet of shapes (just in case) and had the window wound right down. Myles started to pray for me and I started to feel better. Crisis averted.

I still feel a bit under the weather. It's a cool day today. So odd for Janurary. So we are having a nice little relax in the lounge room.

It's nice. More water I think.

yoga mama

I have no idea what my shakra is and I don't think I'm very zen but I'm going to prenatal yoga today.

I had a really sore muscle cramp in my leg last Wednesday just as I woke up. It was seriously like wake up...searing pain in my leg. Good morning!

So I figure a bit of bending and stretching will do it the world of good.

It's at the hospital where I am giving birth and it's free. At least in a room full of pregnant ladies I can't look too silly....

My mum told me that giving birth is like running a marathon and you don't do that without training so I better get my pregnant tush into gear.
