who is this?

Who is this cute little specimen?

It's Myles at 40 weeks. Isn't he the cutest little thing?

Ok so it's mildly creepy that I'm swooning at his cuteness and he is now a fully grown 6"4 man but...
but...

I still want to squeeze his little chubby cheeks.

I raided his family photo albums and have been imagining what our little girl could look like. There are no girls in his family so cute little puffy cheeks is all I have to go by.

only five days left

The envelope is sealed, the cupcakes will be baked, the lolly bags are ready and you have only five days left to vote.

That's right the It's a .... party is on this weekend!!!

I am so so excited to find out if we have a little fella or lady.

You may not have noticed but down the side of my blog is a poll where you can vote for what you think. So far the blue vote is slightly ahead but it all may change.

I've done a few silly and potentially meaningless net tests to determine whether it's going to be a boy or girl here are the answers.

Apparently I'm 55% likely to have a boy. Well there's great odds for you. I think that is around about the likelihood of it happening anyway.

Womb with a View

I am really excited.

On Tuesday we are having an ultrasound. We get to look at the little one again.
This time there will be less rubber ducky and more cute baby hands and faces
and bellies.

I'm thrilled to bits.

My mum is coming down in the morning and we are going to spend some time together
and then the US is at 2pm at the hospital. My mum is super excited. Maybe it's something to do with her first grandbaby and all. She sees babies born all the time at work but this is one she gets to cuddle and love forever... I'm actually a bit worried she may steal the little tacker after the birth.

I have been told that the hospital is terrible at keeping appointment times.
This makes me worry a small bit. My appointment was 45 mins late at the birth centre.

I'm sure it will be all fine. I may have to take a drink bottle (If you know what I mean)

SO

this is the ultrasound where they can tell if its a little bobby boy or sweetie pie girl.

Yes we are going to find out... most likely.

I'm now having doubts about finding out.

Is it better to find out or have a surprise? What did you do? Are you happy with your decision?

If we do find out we are going to have an "it's a" party in the park when Myl finishes his exams. We will let the whole world know on that day and there will be sweet treats and prizes and lots of fun.

For all we know the little one might decide to be modest and we wont be able to find out anyway.

Problem solved.

Baby shower ideas

My wonderful friend has decided that she wants to throw me a baby shower.
It wont be for a good long while but that is no reason why I cant plan away.

There is a really cool idea I had never head of before untill reading this post on "This Mama Makes Stuff."

Its about having an "Its a..." party. The idea is that when you go for the 19 week ultrasound you get the doctor to write the gender of the baby on a piece of paper and seals it in an envelope.

At the party you get your guests to tie pink or blue wool or ribbon round their bellies to guess whether they think the small one will be a boy or a girl. At the end of the party you announce and everyone gets surprised at once.

Those who guess correctly get a prize.

I don't think I have Myl sold on the idea but I think it's a pretty good one.

P.S If you would like to guess the gender already I've got a poll on the left hand side that you can vote on!

Start of Week 10

Dear little one,

We know where you are going to be born now!
Unless you get sick you are going to come into
the world with your mama wide awake and
probably yelling her lungs off.
You have now become a little fetus and not
an embryo anymore. Congratulations. You are
growing so big! You are now the size of a brazil
nut. You are also turning into a little boy or girl.
I think I would like to find out what you are but
your dada isn't so sure.

Cant wait to meet you little one.

The family curse?

I found out last night that there is an interesting trend (lets call it a curse) in my husbands family.

He is the oldest of two boys and in his dads line there have been no girls born for four generations!

Four generations!

Now I will admit that I was hoping that the little one would be a boy. I like the idea of the eldest being a boy like Peter in Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. Someone to stand up for and look after his younger siblings. I like little boys too. I think they are very cute. I thought it would be nice to have a little mummy's boy who I could cuddle and help to dress... when he is sixteen.

Maybe not, but I like the idea of having a young man who is taller than me but still cool enough to give his mum a kiss goodbye.

But all boys? I don't know if I could deal with that.

It would be nice to have a little girl to play fairies in the garden with. To dress in pink and when she is a teenager to teach her how to be a woman and cry with her when she gets her first period. That would be nice.

I don't think I would like all boys or all girls. But I guess we will just have to take what God gives us. I'm sure the little one will be lovely.

It's not such a bad thing to have all boys I guess. But it will be interesting to see what happens and whether or not the family girl drought will be broken.
